#The100DayProject week 9 roundup above. This week I thought a lot about what style I most enjoy painting in and how my mood and the time available plays a part. At the beginning of this project I thought I only wanted to paint flat solid colour in a very graphic style that I love. As this project has evolved however I've found that I only enjoy painting this way when I feel calm and have the time to go slow. Given most days aren't like that I've also been painting in a much looser style. What I've discovered is that this feels more natural to me no matter what my mood is or how much time I have.
Perhaps I'm over-thinking but I've been wondering how you choose a style to focusing on? Should you even choose? Is it more important to enjoy the process or the outcome? Are they equally as important? I feel a little all over the place and pulled between two styles and I'd like to feel a bit more focused. Is style something you strive to achieve because you like the way it looks? Or do you create in a style that feels the most natural and fun to do? I'm leaning towards the later now. Like I said, maybe I'm over-thinking and maybe this is something you learn in an arts degree. I don't know. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you have any you'd like to share.
