I have a new roundup of #The100DayProject to share with you today - week 5, which also means the project is a third of the way through. Knowing that feels great and I think the momentum made the week more satisfying than last. I looked forward to painting most days - a helpful factor for continuing a daily project.
Half way through the week I realised I'd painted all faces facing towards that left so I rolled with it and continued the week in the same direction. Day 5 - the moon/horn man - bought a really awkward composition. I wasn't mindful of this while painting and would've preferred not to show him at all but as part of the project I had to share anyway. It's hard sharing the ones I don't like and I think that's been one of the biggest challenges of the project, along with sharing something every day. But I guess that's part of the point and it's good to be challenged outside of our comfort zones. I'm beginning to notice it doesn't always feel as uncomfortable to share - even the bad ones - as I know it would have in the past.
Another thing I noticed this week was that I fell into a habit of using the same two brushes - a medium flat brush and a smaller round brush for details. For week 6 I'll be challenging myself to paint no left facing faces and to mix up the kinds of brushes I use. Sounds like fun already!
